How to see your clipboard history on Mac

You copied something ten minutes ago and then copied over it. Get it back.

Short answer

macOS 26 Tahoe added clipboard history inside Spotlight; earlier versions keep only the last thing you copied. MacFixes keeps text, images and files in the menu bar, with pins and search.

What macOS gives you

On macOS 15 and earlier, the clipboard holds one item. macOS 26 Tahoe adds a clipboard history you can open from Spotlight. MacFixes works on macOS 14 and later and lives in the menu bar panel.

How MacFixes fixes it

  1. 1
    Add the fix
Open MacFixes Settings → Clipboard and add “Clipboard history”. Fixes are off until you add them.
  2. 2
    Copy as usual
Recent copies appear in the panel. Pin the ones you want to keep, and search the rest.
  3. 3
    Use the shortcut
Give “Open clipboard history” a shortcut to jump straight to it.

Questions

Does it save passwords?

No. Anything a password manager marks as secret is never recorded.

Is my history stored anywhere?

It’s kept in memory and forgotten when MacFixes quits. If you switch on “Keep pinned items after quitting”, pinned items are kept too.
